Wedding Planning and Day-of Coordination
About:
When Elizabeth Coopersmith ’93 tied the knot in 2003, she was lucky to have been an event planner at the time, and had a very good idea of what to expect and where to go and find what she wanted. It was the year when all of her friends were getting married too, and wanted to help. Eventually, Silver Charm Events was born. With almost 15 years of experience as a planner in Los Angeles, Coopersmith collaborates with the best creative professionals in Southern California. As a huge Los Angeles Lakers fan, Coopersmith helped former NBA Star Robert Horry and his wife, Candice Madrid, plan the final weeks of their wedding in October 2019, and their story was featured on People.com. Silver Charm Events is committed to giving their clients the support, resources and time they need to create the celebration of a lifetime. They believe their clients should enjoy their special wedding day, and feel relaxed about the planning that leads up to it.
Review:
“Liz was our day-of coordinator, but she definitely went above and beyond to make sure all of the pieces came together before the big day. She was great at handling all of the little details behind the scenes to help make our wedding day a stress-free and fun experience. She works really hard to touch base with all of the various vendors and keep everything and everyone organized. Knowing she had it all under control allowed me to relax and enjoy!” — Megan + Jin: Ebell Long Beach

In-Person and Virtual Team Building: Amazing Race, Survivor Games, Game Shows, Fast & Furious Build ‘N Race, Lego Build, Culinary Classes and Much More
About:
Feet First started in 1988 with Dave and Kevin (the Cloutier brothers) organizing intramural competitions on the UCLA campus. They became known within the student body for creating games that were original and innovative. After graduation, a number of UCLA alumni started asking Kevin and Dave to bring their expertise in team building to their corporations. Since then, they’ve helped thousands of companies strengthen camaraderie, improve communication and build morale. Feet First has been California's leader in fun, unique, and creative team-building events for nearly 30 years. Whether it’s a small group of five to 10 or 1,000+, they have events that will get your people out of the office and have fun, all the while working on their communication skills and trust in one another.
Review:
“We have hired Feet First Team Building for multiple events at our company. From large events of 300+ to our smaller corporate group of 150 and no matter the size, these guys always knock it out of the park and get the group energized and having the time of their life. The most recent event we had was their virtual gameshow. It was for our corporate group and although I was skeptical about how it would all pan out being online and not with everyone, it was an absolute great time and went above my expectations. All our employees were having the best time. I received lots of compliments about the event. The team that these guys have assembled is the best. They are energetic, funny, top notch kind of people. We will continue to hire them for our team building events.” Amber B., Client

About:
Flour LA was originally conceived as a retail storefront of food and flowers towards the end of 2009, hence the company's double-entendre name. After building an online presence locally in the floral world, the plan got derailed in order to focus on solely providing flowers to upscale clientele that yearned for quality and creativity. In 2013, Flour LA expanded to the East Coast and launched Flour LA Jr. for children’s parties and in 2019, expanded to Nashville. Flour LA provides flowers for the lifestyle, beauty, tech and fashion industries, matching floral and event design to brands for product launches, parties and corporate events. Whenever possible, leftover event flowers and plants are donated to women’s shelters. They now offer virtual flower arranging classes for private and group floral design lessons, events, client appreciation and virtual team building.
Review:
“I didn't really know what I wanted at all, but I told her a little bit about our style and things I liked and let Carly do the rest. I knew she would do an amazing job, and she did. I was really blown away by how well it all came out. I was terrible about describing what I wanted, but she managed to figure it out and really put together something just perfect. Working with her was stress-free!” - Nicola, Smog Shoppe

About:
Created in 2010, Let’s Play! is a minority women-owned special events company created by founder Michelle Johnson as an alternative to the same old bar scene. What began as a fun game night event for friends would grow into a full service events company specializing in a nostalgic game night concept. Let’s Play! has been able to capture the essence of their client’s fondest childhood memories through board games, interactive play, inflatables and music to transform even the most mature adults into little kids back on the playground. During the pandemic, Let’s Play! quickly pivoted by taking advantage of its partners’ IT and AV experience to create the ultimate virtual platform entertainment. Since April 2020, Let’s Play! has put on more than 220 virtual events, including funerals, birthdays, installations, comedy shows, happy hours, parties, movie screenings, corporate workshops, retreats, cocktail receptions, fundraising galas, summits and inaugural events.
Review:
“Let's Play! is the best event I've ever been to! I really didn’t know what to expect. I had a vision of what game night looks like but this was so much more than I ever imagined!! This should be a signature event for UCLA!” - NaShaun Neal ’04, J.D.’08, UCLA Black Alumni Association — Homecoming Chair

Just Merried Events is a female-owned, female-powered event and wedding planning business that Lilian Hsyu started in 2012 as a hobby. It was a “side-hustle” until she made it her full-time job in 2014. They are the go-to resource for a stress-free planning experience. They love working on weddings, birthdays, holiday parties and corporate events. Just Merried Events is all about fun, wow-worthy, 100% authentic and unique events that everyone can enjoy (no cookie cutter events)! The team has traveled to Hawaii, Italy and are ready to head wherever their client’s celebrations take them next.
Review:
“We got married in October 2019, and Just Merried Events was there to help us through one of the busiest times in our lives. Since we both worked full-time in industries where working eight to five is the bare minimum, Just Merried kept us organized and helped us focus on major milestones for our wedding…Lilian is awesome! During the planning process, she had a list of vendors; she knew exactly what we should focus on when; she stood up to vendors (that we had chosen) that were not following protocol; and she was willing to listen to what we wanted for our wedding while giving thoughtful alternatives/suggestions. So overall, we highly recommend Lilian and her team! She was phenomenal and a huge stress relief!” Natalie T., Client

Event Design, Production in New York and California, Specializing in Creative Brand Launches for Premium Brands and Out-of-the-Box Conferences
About:
Ara Farnam-Levinson ’02 has been the rock of Rock Paper Scissors since its inception. Right out of college, she moved to London and landed a job at global interior design icon de Gournay, where she worked her way up from ordering office supplies to overseeing several U.S. showrooms. She eventually moved to New York City and established the company’s first American showroom. In 2009, after six years at de Gournay, Farnam-Levinson felt the itch to start her own thing. She started doing friends’ weddings, and then fairly quickly realized she had something of real value to offer and maybe people would pay her to do this. So she quit her job and started Rock Paper Scissors Events. The RPS team is filled with a roster of design talent with backgrounds in floral design, film and television production, event planning, interior design and large scale event production. Post-pandemic, the RPS team have come full circle to wanting to do more in the wedding space. They have a new program for using the momentum of change unique to this moment to craft a fresh way to approach weddings to make them more meaningful and transformative.
Review:
“Rock Paper Scissors has perfected the delightful combination of reliability and creativity. Ara, Alice and team are superb — from detail-oriented planning to timely communication to thoughtful ‘surprise and delight’ elements to polished execution, events are a breeze in their capable hands. Be it personal or corporate, small or large, traditional or unconventional, Rock Paper Scissors is my trusted go-to agency for creative events." — Meg Smith, Corporate Client

Virtual Team Building and Fundraising Through Game Play
About:
They call themselves Grin Events for many reasons, but the main one is they love making their clients smile. Plus, their founder’s name has the word “Grin” in it. From a young age, John Grindle, loved to play games. He quickly realized he also loved to bring people together to have fun. He was the friend you wanted at your birthday party or wedding because you knew he would make sure everyone was having a great time. Now, as the Chief Purveyor of Fun, he’s dedicated his life to helping others connect in meaningful ways because he knows play is one of the best ways to get people engaged with each other. That, and he always wanted to get paid to have fun.
Review:
“John planned a themed game afternoon for our college reunion (virtual due to the pandemic) and it was honestly more fun than the reunion would have been in person. I've never seen Zoom work so smoothly and seamlessly, and the games were super fun and a great way to connect with old friends. Instead of small talk that gets old really fast, we were able to reminisce and laugh about the past through the games John created. It was an absolute blast. Could not recommend more highly!” — Emily C., Client

Wedding Planning and Design Studio
About:
Natalie and Stephanie Duclett ’11 have been creative all their lives, but it wasn't until 2008, when Natalie was planning her own wedding, that she discovered the art of wedding design. Their creativity ran wild as they made Natalie's wedding day unique to her and her fiancé as a couple, through distinctive and traditional wedding styles. After the perfect day came and went, friends and family came knocking. Natalie and Stephanie went on to design and plan events together. Seeing the potential in each other, these sisters sat down together and dreamt up Lovelyfest. The two decided to take a leap and open up a business together, and haven't looked back since. The two are not only highly creative, but their personalities balance each other out perfectly. With their keen organizational skills and attentiveness to detail, they never miss a beat. Whether they’re planning an entire event from start to finish, or simply providing design, the two give their whole hearts and souls to each event.

“I just wanted to reach out and let you girls know that there are NO words to tell you how much I appreciate what you did for us. I’m crying now just writing this. It was THE most beautiful wedding. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. We know a lot of people who attend a lot of events and I’ve probably got 500 messages telling me that this is by far THE best wedding they’ve ever been to. Hands down you guys knocked it out of the park! You’re blessed with talent and I wish you much success. Our family will NEVER forget this beautiful day.” — The Etchisons

Review:
“We love Escape Rooms and since COVID we have missed doing them. We got our team together to try one of The Escape Game's rooms and it was a blast. We chose ‘The Heist’ because who doesn't love a good Ocean's movie. The company provides a field agent on the ground in the room and we effectively run the operation. Clues were a blast and the team really enjoyed the creativity on this one. Can't wait to try out one of the rest of the other four themed rooms.” — Client

Wedding Services, Custom Wedding Design
About:
Orange Blossom Special Events (OBSE) produces beautiful events and truly puts their heart and soul into everything they execute. It started in 2003, when Brooke Avishay ’06 was a student intern at UCLA Athletics working closely with sponsors who were executing game-time promotions. From the beginning, she was addicted to the adrenaline that comes with producing live events. She followed that passion and right after graduating from UCLA, she worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers in advertising and special events where she learned more about event production. Avishay realized weddings would be a great next step, and after cold-calling nearly every wedding planner in Los Angeles, she ended up scoring her first job in the wedding industry. Having learned more about the wedding industry, she decided to start planning weddings on her own, and Orange Blossom was born. OBSE is filled with passionate, friendly, and unbelievably talented people who genuinely care about their clients’ weddings and special events.
Review:
“Wow, wow, wow! Orange Blossom was AMAZING! Brooke, Christy, Ella, Jamie were the best team! They were so patient and kind with us as we navigated new plans and ideas due to the pandemic. It must have been a ton of work for them (they basically planned and cancelled Plan A and B), and they could not have been more timely, patient and gracious. The eventual Plan C was a micro-wedding, which was intimate and beautiful and the design was next level, thanks to OB. We would highly, highly recommend Orange Blossom! Just a suggestion: allow them to work their magic, take it easy and give all your concerns to them.....be a guest at your wedding, they will take care of everything....with bright and loving smiles! Simply the best!” - Lindsay M., Pasadena, Calif.
