During the month of October, the inaugural Welcome to the City series took place in locations around the globe. Longtime residents welcomed alumni who had just relocated to a new city. Bruins from of all ages and occupations gathered with their UCLA neighbors to restore a precious connection between the past and present with the intent of building a strong future. Conejo Valley Oktoberfest
Thursday, Oct. 9, 6 p.m.

Life is good in the Conejo Valley with most needed activities and amenities nestled within the community. Recently, Bruins have increased the value with social and professional networking opportunities. Welcome the advent of fall and neighbors who are UCLA alumni, by coming together to celebrate Oktoberfest with seasonal foods, a bar menu with over 20 craft beers and artisanal cocktails.



San Diego

San Diego Brunch in Balboa Park
Sunday, Oct. 26, 2 p.m.

Join San Diego Bruins in the heart of Balboa Park for Sunday brunch at a restaurant that serves local food sourced from local farms and craft beer from local breweries. Designed to be a place where people can get back to knowing their neighbors the ambiance is perfect to meet and connect with your fellow Bruins.

Glammin’ Sunday
Sunday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m.

If you talk with your hands you’ll need conversation stopping nails. Come discover some tips and tricks from a cosmetic product development insider. Claim your rightful place on the cutting edge of style, paint your nails and learn how fashion icons like Marc Jacobs and Kat Von D are adding their flavor to the newest luxury and contemporary shades in nail color.

Beacon Hill Neighborhood Tour and Brunch
Sunday, Oct. 26, Noon – 3 p.m.

Join the UCLA Alumni Boston Network for a guided one-hour tour of the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood, followed by brunch. Amy Gold, alumna and former area tour guide, will take us from the golden dome of the State House through picturesque streets to learn about Beacon Hill’s rural beginnings, ornate past, fun facts and much more. Then Céad Míle Fáilte, a hundred thousand welcomes as Bruins gather for brunch in warm surroundings with beautiful Celtic motifs and floor to ceiling Irish craftsmanship. Fill your mind with interesting information, your stomach with good food and your spirit with great company.


Las Vegas

UCLA vs. Colorado Game Watching

Game watching UCLA Football with enthusiastic fans is the next best thing to being in the stands at the Rose Bowl or following the team on the road. Don your blue and gold and be in strong voice to cheer UCLA to victory over the Colorado Buffaloes. Meet your Las Vegas area Bruin neighbors and see how easy it is to find a comfortable place to belong.


Washington D.C.

D.C. City Tour and Brunch
Sunday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m.

Put on your walking shoes and join a leisurely-paced tour that’s equally appropriate for new and longtime residents. Start at The Capitol and walk past the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Folger Shakespeare Library and the Marine Barracks. Be prepared to experience a surge of pride and patriotism, in the company of another source of pride your fellow Bruins. After working up an appetite, you will end the tour at Eastern Market, Washington, D.C.’s original and premier food and arts market. Mingle with Bruins, welcome new residents, refresh your sense of history and sample the fresh, amazing foods of your choice.

UCLA Takes Over Leicester Square
Saturday, Oct. 11, 8:30 p.m. kick-off

Join local Bruins and Education Abroad Program (EAP) students to watch a fierce Pac-12 match-up as AP 8th ranked UCLA takes on #2 Oregon. Led by two of the top quarterbacks in the nation, Oregon is pegged as the favorite to top the standings and UCLA is expected to meet in the championship. Join fellow Bruins to support UCLA and cheer this precursor to what could be the PAC-12 title game. Come enjoy the excitement of the sport on state-of-the-art screens in the good company of people like you who lived, learned and thrived at UCLA.
