Reunion Weekend Format Returns

This fall, medical alumni will be treated to the return of reunion weekend. After a few years of experimenting with a single day reunion event, which coincided with UCLA Alumni Day, Reunion 2012 will have two days of events including the traditional Friday night welcome reception and the Saturday night all-class reception followed by individual class dinners.

Alumni from the reunion classes are encouraged to attend all of the weekend events which will be held at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel, Dr. S. Jerome and Judith D. Tamkin Auditorium and the UCLA Faculty Center. Participants will have the opportunity to take a tour of the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and engage in lively discussion at the Distinguished Speakers Symposium.

Reunion alumni should look for an invitation in late June. The complete list of events and prices, including special early-bird rates, are available now. More info »

Speakers Bureau and UCLA Medicine Magazine

Jim Jackson, M.D. ’87, author of Finding My Balance, recently gave a special lunch-time lecture to current medical students. The presentation opened up a new volunteer opportunity for alumni to connect with the school and have an impact on the students’ educational experience. Although the MAA does not have an official Alumni Speakers Bureau program, please email me if you are interested in sharing information about your career path or a particular area of interest.

Special thanks to Chris Wilson, M.D. ’72, and Carlos Ayala, M.D. ’99, who will volunteer as alumni speakers during the 2012-13 academic year.

On another note, UCLA Medicine magazine, which is published three times per year, is available electronically at magazine.uclahealth.org. View at your convenience for feature stories, news, research and highlights from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and UCLA Health System.
