The start of the school year is always an exciting time for the Bruin community, but this fall will be especially electric as the campus reopens after an 18-month closure. Once again, UCLA’s grounds will be filled with the sight and sounds of students, faculty, staff, visitors, even pets, traversing through its hallowed halls, conversing about the day’s news and delighting in the fact that despite the challenges of this pandemic — we are back! UCLA Bruins won a total of 16 medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo - seven gold, seven silver and two bronze. Of the 50 Bruins representing their respective countries at the Games, 15 athletes won medals, and an additional five Bruins were coaches of medal-winning teams. UCLA's all-time medal count now stands at 270 medals - 136 gold, 71 silver and 63 bronze.
In his 50 years of public service, California's longest-serving Republican congressman was a champion for UCLA from Washington, D.C., helping campus rebuild following the 1994 Northridge quake. In 2006, this True Bruin was honored as the Edward A. Dickson Alumnus of the Year for his impact on the University and the nation.
Hanna Lim, M.Ed. ’05, and Mark Lim, MBA ’08, are the founders of the infant and toddler goods company Lollaland. The parents of three designed a product that they couldn’t find anywhere else, founded a small business and grew their brand with help from the popular entrepreneurial game show “Shark Tank.”
