Neuroscientist Ardem Patapoutian '90 is one of two winners of the 2021 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for helping discover receptors in the body that respond to temperature and touch. These findings are being used to develop treatments for a wide range of disease conditions, including chronic pain.
Actor and former Obama official Kal Penn '00 can now add author to his credits with the release of his memoir, "You Can't Be Serious." The collection of hilarious stories from Penn's life chronicles his adventures from Westwood to White Castle to the White House, including the time he almost took his W.H. team to a strip club. On Oct. 21, UCLA memorialized the legendary life of one of the world's greatest athletes on the Rafer and Betsy Johnson Track at Drake Stadium.
