The deadly violence that occurred in
Atlanta and other cities has sowed fear, anger and sadness in
the hearts and minds of many Americans. It comes on the heels
of thousands of reported vicious attacks and hate crimes
perpetuated against Asian American Pacific Islanders since the
pandemic began. The UCLA community came out in solidarity to
strongly condemn these acts rooted in both racism and sexism,
joining the "calls for transformative change and
justice." Chancellor Block added, "We must all
recognize our shared humanity and support one
another."
