The UCLA Internship Alumni Network (IAN) supports student career development through internships and mentoring. Our organization strives to make internships and experiential learning accessible to students and to create a pathway for alumni to develop opportunities for students. We serve as an alumni resource in partnership with the UCLA Career Center and the UCLA Alumni Association.
The network was founded by Robert S. Michaels ’67, J.D. ’70. Once an informal group of UCLA campus leaders who were involved in various internship programs, now IAN aims to further the goal of students obtaining an internship as part of their undergraduate experience. From raising scholarships for unpaid internships to advocating for alumni hiring Bruins, the Internship Alumni Network creates opportunities that foster student success.
We were excited to have awarded eight scholarships this past year in partnership with the Center for Community Engagement, The Luskin School of Public Affairs, The Transfer Student Center and UC Center Sacramento.
Please join us at the Internship Alumni Network Scholars Reception and lunch taking place on Sunday, Oct. 20, from noon to 2 p.m. at the James West Alumni Center. We will celebrate our Alex White Scholarship recipients, learn more about the network and hear from campus representatives. We hope you can join us!
Dorothea Amadin, EXP ’25 — Transfer Student, Sociology Major
"This summer, I have been given the opportunity to intern at the Los Angeles County Public Defender's office. I’ve gotten to deepen my understanding of the criminal justice system while preparing my skills for a legal career. I would not have been able to otherwise take on this unpaid internship without the IAN’s support. As a transfer student, the IAN has enabled me to focus on my academic passions this summer without worrying about financial barriers. In addition to the financial support the IAN has offered me, they have shown that they believe in me as a transfer student. This has given me a sense of capability and readiness to achieve my academic goals."
Aubin and Victor Lopez
Victor Lopez, Exp ’25, Electrical Engineer
Lopez is currently interning at Walt Disney Imagineering, located in the Glendale Creative Campus. He assists the Electrical Engineering team in the Design & Planning department, working on projects all over the world. Lopez is excited and honored to join the UCLA IAN Network and can’t wait to meet those who have extended their generosity through the Alex White Scholarship.
