In addition to an evening of conversation, connection and camaraderie, we are honored to welcome Dr. Felicia Marie Knaul, renowned global health economist and partner of Chancellor Julio Frenk. A celebrated researcher and leader in health equity, Dr. Knaul has dedicated her career to strengthening health systems, advancing gender equity, and advocating for vulnerable communities worldwide.
Her work has influenced academics and policymakers, expanded access to healthcare globally, and shaped policies internationally on issues ranging from palliative care and cancer treatment to the economic impact of health disparities. As the founder of Tómatelo a Pecho, a Mexico-based nonprofit focused on women’s health, and a longtime leader of global research and advocacy networks, Dr. Knaul brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and insight to her role.
“He seems, to me, ideally suited to a complex and diverse university like UCLA. He’ll be well served by his unwavering commitment to the possibilities inherent in learning and teaching, and to the importance of evidence and research in addressing what seem all but intractable problems.”
Drew Gilpin Faust,
president of Harvard during Frenk’s tenure as dean of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
