Reform, divestment and abolition are all methods that have been suggested to address the issue of police violence and the over-policing of Black, Indigenous and people of color communities. This week's issue offers a Bruin perspective on reimagining policing.

On Thursday, May 27, UCLA Black Alumni Association and Nō Studios comes together for "Black-N-Blue: A Live Candid Discussion on Policing From the Mouths of Black Law Enforcement From Around the Country."

Through research, performance art and radical pedagogy, the Divest/Invest UCLA Faculty Collective examines structures of incarceration in Los Angeles and seeks to abolish the racialized policing of Black, Brown and Indigenous. Get to know the movement through the digital repository.

Watch
 Jackie Robinson Stadium was used as a field jail to detain Black Lives Matter protesters on June 1, 2020. Detainees and organizers, including Oceana Gilliam, M.P.P. '19, and Jodi Scofield, Exp. M.S.W. '21, returned to the stadium six months later to reclaim the space and call for divestment of police and investment in the community.
