Virtually Gather

While we practice physical distancing for the benefit of public health, the UCLA Alumni Association aims to offer opportunities to virtually gather and remain socially engaged. If you have not yet had the opportunity to join us online, we encourage you to participate in this month's Alumni Town Hall.

Hosted by UCLA Alumni President D'Artagnan Scorza '07, Ph.D. '13, this monthly town hall is an open forum featuring UCLA guests addressing the issues affecting the University and the Bruin community.

The first guest is UCLA Administrative Vice Chancellor Michael Beck, who is responsible for developing policy, monitoring compliance and overseeing campus operations in key areas. This discussion will primarily focus on how COVID-19 is impacting the campus and how the University is responding.

ENGAGE
Celebrate our intersectional community during Filipino-American History Month and LGBTQ+ History Month with a screening and discussion of "Lingua Franca" presented by Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA, UCLA Lambda Alumni Association, UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association and Undocumented Alumni Association of UCLA.

LEARN
Join the UCLA School of Law Williams Institute for LGBTQ Parenting 2020, a conversation to discuss the joys and challenges of LGBTQ parenting in 2020.

LISTEN
In Gente & Health, Dr. David Hayes Bautista discusses the many terms Latinos have used to describe themselves and the migration that led to the blended-ness of Latinos, and he interviews Jenifer Logia '15 and Deondra Montgomery '15 — all of which highlight a few of the 60 million different ways one can be Latino.

BAKE
Join Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA for a virtual baking class. Learn to make a traditional and Halloween-inspired Pavlova with Samantha Manuel Exp. '23 of Sammie's Sweet Shoppe.

UNDERSTAND
The UCLA Center for Neighborhood Knowledge developed a website called Movement Hub as an online anti-racism hub focusing on the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. The website offers resources for and by AAPI organizations to promote cross-racial unity.

As always, we thank you for your love and support. Feel free to forward this to a friend and visit our social media companion to the Diversity Digest on Instagram at @ucladiversealum. Most importantly, please let us know if there is a topic you are interested in by submitting ideas to diversity@alumni.ucla.edu.

Stay engaged,
