Matt Gray Brush is one of Lambda's graduate student scholarship winners. After a rigorous application process and interviewing with the Lambda Alumni Scholarship Committee, Brush has demonstrated a dedication to pursuing a degree
in public health and outstanding commitment to serve the LGBTQ+ community. "Working towards my masters degree has been my primary focus. I came to Los Angeles because of what the city had to offer me, and I felt I could offer something in return," Brush says. "It has always been my passion to work with the LGBT community, specifically trans individuals, helping them through mentorship, advising and community building. I decided to get my masters in public health because I felt I still had more to learn, and I knew that my work was far from over. My experiences as a trans man myself, combined with several experiences of my friends and loved ones, have inspired me to continue learning how to better serve others."
Congratulations to Matt for being one of Lambda's first two graduate student scholarship recipients!
Summer Highlight
Incoming LGBTQ+ students and their families had an opportunity to meet alumni and staff during our annual New Bruin Send-Offat the beautiful home of Doug Aoyama '98 and partner Tom. Our activities consisted of board games, group discussions and student stories. Thank you to our speakers - Alumni Association board member, Todd Sargent '96, Lambda board member, Ana Romero '04, M.A.'17, and our 2018 Lambda scholars, Dana Dixon and Matt Brush, for speaking about your journeys and engaging with our community. More photos from our send-off can be found on our Facebook page here.
