Introducing the
Daily Bruin header
Alumni Network

On behalf of Daily Bruin staffers past and present, it is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of the UCLA Daily Bruin Alumni Network, and our first-ever alumni reunion, October 5, 2018, in Westwood. We are excited about the incredibly diverse and accomplished alumni community you are about to become a part of, in support of the premier college newspaper in the country. As we approach the centennial of UCLA and the Daily Bruin, we hope to foster a brighter future for our beloved school paper.
Daily Bruin 1969 Staff
From the very beginning, the Daily Bruin has played an important role, providing the first draft of history for our alma mater. In the 99 years since the first print run, the Daily Bruin has produced distinguished journalists in all mediums. The same skills practiced and honed at Kerckhoff Hall have also served former staffers well in other pursuits, including but not limited to business, marketing, public relations, entertainment, academia, government, tech and the law. In these challenging times for newspapers and the independent press, this is the moment for the Daily Bruin alumni to come home and come together for each other, the student-journalists and the Daily Bruin.

"The Daily Bruin launched my career as a professional journalist. I often tell aspiring reporters that the only way to learn how to be a journalist is to do the work, day in and day out. That's what I had the chance to do at the Daily Bruin, and I will be forever grateful for the experience."

We believe that the Daily Bruin was likely the most impactful and memorable experience of your college years. Like us, you’ve made life long friends, and gained skills that have helped you navigate your life and career. And like us, you believe that college newspapers are critical to the future of journalism. This unique educational and professional development enterprise, the Daily Bruin, the de facto school of journalism (and life) at UCLA, deserves your fervent and sustained support. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you this fall, back at Kerckhoff Hall!

Sincerely,
Lawrence Ma ’95 & Tanner Walters ’18,
on behalf of the Committee for the Daily Bruin Alumni Network

The Association's work has always been, and will continue to be, to strengthen the Bruin community.
