Due to a record number of OrgullOSO students registered for this year's mentorship program, we are looking for more UCLA Latino alumni mentors.
The OrgullOSO Mentorship Program fosters meaningful relationships between UCLA Latinx students and Latino alumni. This year, the mentorship program is being hosted on the UCLA ONE platform. If you would like to participate, you will need to create a UCLA ONE profile no later than Nov. 30.
Please fill in your profile as thoroughly as possible to ensure we are able to match you with a student who shares a common experience with you or is seeking a career path similar to yours.
Latino Bruins gathered to celebrate our heritage and culture for Hispanic Heritage Month. We kicked off the month with a Griffith Park hike in partnership with Stanford Latino Alumni Association and USC Latino Alumni Association.
Our next event was a Hispanic heritage mixer celebration at Sonoritas in Downtown L.A. in collaboration with Stanford Latino Alumni Association, UC Berkeley Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association and USC Latino Alumni Association.
Lastly, we welcomed the incoming class of Latino Bruins at the annual New Bruin Send-Off!
October was filled with many opportunities to come together. Read through this month’s newsletter to learn about more opportunities to gather and build community. We hope to see you at our next event!
New Bruin Send-off
It was with great enthusiasm that the UCLA Latino Alumni Association (ULAA) welcomed approximately 50 newly admitted students and their families to UCLA at the James West Alumni Center on Friday, Sept. 29. As a yearly tradition, the New Bruin Send-off celebration creates a space for newly admitted Latinx/a/o/e students to meet other Latinx/a/o/e students and alumni who are all a part of the ULAA comunidad! We thank all who made this year's New Bruin Send-off possible.

Fall Fireside Chat Recap
On Oct. 5, UCLA Latino Alumni Association brought alumni and students together for our first in-person fireside chat, “Taking up Space in Corporate America.” Alumni speakers Lena Hines '99, J.D. '02, and Andres Snaider '88 and moderator Dr. Elizabeth Gonzalez '09 led a lively discussion about the Latino community’s expanding role in the U.S. economy and the keys to attaining leadership roles in areas such as business and law.
The fireside chat was a big success and will be followed by additional career-focused events throughout the year. Special thanks and much appreciation to Cheryl Lott '01, J.D. '04, and her firm, Buchalter Law, for being an Oro Sponsor for this event.
