UCLA Ranked No. 1 Public School in the Country

For the fourth year in a row, U.S. News and World Report's Best College rankings lists UCLA as the top public school in the nation, coming in at No. 20 overall. Among the top 20 national universities, UCLA was the only one to be ranked highly in social mobility (fourth), while ranking first for best public college for veterans and fifth best public college for ethnic diversity. Peer institutions UC Berkeley and USC were ranked No. 22 and No. 24 overall, respectively.

Then and Now

Then and Now

Student activism has been a part of UCLA since its inception, reaching a crescendo with the Civil Rights Movement and anti-war protests of the 60s and 70s, and continues to this day. This slider image juxtaposes a UCLA student engaged in a BLM protest this past summer with a future hall-of-fame Bruin athlete protesting the Vietnam War in 1974.
