Honor Your Journey

You’ve been there, done that and understand the excitement of the first day as a UCLA student, as well as the grit it takes to earn a degree. Use your experience to cull from a rich pool of deserving first-years the newest crop of Alumni Scholars.

Protect UCLA’s Future

The competition between world-class universities for bright students is fierce. For UCLA to educate and inspire the change makers of tomorrow they must first become Bruins. Let’s give students who see UCLA as their school of choice the incentive and means to follow their hearts.

Allocated with Integrity

Alumni scholarships are not awarded based on whom a student knows or being in the right place at the right time. Alumni scholars are chosen solely on their merit as represented during the application process. Additionally, need-based grants may be available for selected recipients.

A Caring Community

An alumni scholarship is more than a financial transaction. Students also receive professional development through mentorship, service projects, mixers, social activities, career and leadership workshops and networking opportunities for their entire undergraduate experience.

Lift Someone Up

Little in life is guaranteed, but know that you can make a positive impact on the community just by reading. While you might not see the ripples of good that emanate from opening a door of opportunity for meritorious students, your selflessness will help them succeed.

Read From Anywhere

Closeness to UCLA is measured in spirit, not miles. Alumni who are willing to identify truly outstanding students by giving a few hours of their time can read applications from the comfort of home. Training is online. Applications will be read March 22-24, 2019.

Alumni insights are very important in the process of scholarship selection. If you feel a flutter of excitement in your spirit around the prospect of participating in this process, we need you.

Alumni volunteers may also interview second-round students via telephone on March 30-31. Volunteers who have either read applications and/or conducted telephone interviews and who are located in the Los Angeles area may attend National Finals and help judge that last round of competition on April 12.
