On Sept. 5, 2017, the Trump Administration announced they were ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program effective March 5, 2018. This program allows undocumented immigrants, who were brought to the United States as young children, to study and work in the country legally. The policy change generated strong reactions throughout the UC system where there are approximately 4,000 DACA recipients, also known as Dreamers. Here is how UC and UCLA responded in the first week.
