Alumni Select Recipients of the 2015 Alumni Scholarships National Finals Award

On Sunday, April 26, more than 100 alumni volunteers convened at the James West Alumni Center for the 2015 Alumni Scholarships National Finals Competition. After weeks of reviewing thousands of scholarship applications and interviewing 150 students, alumni volunteers met with the top-ranking freshmen candidates who competed for scholarship awards ranging from $10,000 - $25,000.

While the 2015 cohort of National Finalists represented a rich diversity of academic backgrounds, they all demonstrated a common trait - exceptional leadership skills. Each candidate had a strong record of performing academic research and leading community service projects that are improving their schools and communities. Their accomplishments impressed alumni judges who assessed each candidate’s creative writing and interview skills in a series of competitions that have been a part of Alumni Scholarships tradition for over 30 years.

According to Nolan, “the immense care and detail that was put into National Finals absolutely blew me away and I think it was the single factor that convinced me to attend UCLA.” He went on to say, “I am honored to accept this award from the Alumni Scholarships Program, and I’m even more excited to join such an enthusiastic and supportive group here at UCLA.”
