A special thank you to the alumni leaders who have just ended their terms on the UCLA Alumni Association Board of Directors. These volunteers have dedicated countless hours and incredible energy to help lead the Alumni Association and strengthen the engagement with alumni.

Grace Ng ’94
Treasurer
Grace Ng has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2009, first as a director, and then two terms as Treasurer. A longtime alumni volunteer, Grace began her involvement in 1999 through her involvement with the New Student Welcome Calling project. She has chaired the Audit Committee and served on several committees, including Nominations, Governance and Awards. A longtime Bruin Woods camper, Grace is also involved with other parts of campus; she has served on the UCLA Foundation’s Audit Committee and is a die-hard Bruin football and basketball fan.

Robert Wallan ’82
General Counsel
Robert Wallan has been the Association’s General Counsel for the past two years. As a member of the board, Robert took on the monumental task of revamping the Board’s bylaws. He has been an active member of several committees, including Nominations, Governance and Finance, and has hosted Dinners for 12 Strangers. Robert and his wife, Nancy, have been longtime Bruin Woods attendees.

Sharon Black ’87
Director
Sharon Black joined the board as a director in 2011. During her time on the board, Sharon served on the Finance, Audit and Nominations Committee. She was instrumental in developing an alumni engagement event at Raytheon for all alumni who worked there. Sharon’s service to the University began as a student, when she served as the President of the UCLA chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and was recognized as a Chancellor’s Marshall. In addition to her role on the Alumni Association board, Sharon is a member of the UCLA Electrical Engineering Alumni Advisory Board.

Van Schultz ’74, M.S. ’75
Immediate Past Chair
Van Schultz has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2007. After serving as Chair from 2010-12, Van became the Alumni Regent-Designate, and then Alumni Regent, on the UC Board of Regents. Van’s longtime commitment as an alumni volunteer began with his service to the Engineering Alumni Association, for which he eventually became president. He has served on the UCLA Foundation Board of Directors and continues to dedicate his time and energy to the University.
