Concluding the Formal Mentorship
As your formal mentorship is coming to a close at the end of the academic year in June, we encourage you to schedule a final meeting (over the phone/Zoom or via email) to reflect on the past year and your mentorship.
Here are a few things to consider:
Review the goals you set at the beginning of the year, and discuss the progress you've made and what you have learned.
Mentors, do you have any final advice for your student that would help them on their trajectory? Discuss their future goals and provide feedback and ideas on how they could accomplish those goals.
Students, thank your mentor and share what you have valued most from their mentorship.
Discuss if and how you'd like to stay in contact in the future.
Express your appreciation for each other and the commitment you both made to the mentorship.
